Let There Be Rock!

Oct 19th, 2009 | By RanChan | Category: Uncategorized

In following the mantra of Aussie rock legends AC/DC, the time has come for me to let the rock floweth forth.  I am the new bassist for a local expat rock band newly named Sinnocular.  The sound of this auspicious group of fellows is hard rock verging on soft metal, and our self-titled debut album will be released next month.  The track list is short but sweet, with 5 licks:

1CM
Imitation Dreams
Taco Bell (Bitch-Be-Gone)
2AM
Self-Centered Whore

Our first concert with the current roster will be on the 1st of November in downtown Kumamoto, on an outdoor stage during the city’s yearly international festival.  From what I’ve heard of previous years, we might be following a troupe of Hula dancing grandmothers.  Still, at least at this concert I know there will be nobody reaching up to sky to touch their “lord” or rambling incoherent babble and calling it “speaking in tongues” which is more than I can say for the last outdoor concert I played.  I was kicked out of that Christian rock band a short while later when they discovered I was an athiest.

Rock on.

  1. Thats awesome man! I want to hear some of the music! I hope you added some lyrics to the effect of having someones sister eating paint chips again. Insane in the Brain

  2. Sinnocular’s playlist seems philosophically inclined to cover some rasty-nasty hits from post-beat Flagstaff band of the early 80s, “The Shots.” (Buckshot on lyrics, Half-shot on keyboard, Jumpshot on guitar). A transfer from cassette to CD is being made now, and will send along, in a cyberish way, such tunes as “Japanese Girl You’re Staying Home, Sunbathing in Bierut, Sappho Why Can’t You Be True?, Joy, Disco Death, Gettin’ Inside Yer DNA, Sailing to Byzantium (which actually covers Yeats’s poem, sung by our obligatory black girl in the band), and others long forgotten in the ears and annals of aging hipsters and other dharma nuns.
